The ‘other’ poets
Speaker: Major General (Ret’d) Michael O’Brien CSC, MDA, BSc (Mil)
The poets of the First World War – they were all British men, weren’t they? The literary canon of such poetry is cast in stone. What about allied poets or, just perhaps, enemy poets? Of course, only those with the experience of battle could write about it – or is this poppycock? Did the war affect civilians? Women? Or even Australian women? This talk will reveal the surprising depth of female Australian poetry of the Great War.
