Hand-made, self-published and experimental. Places of friendship, intellectual debate and the development of self. A space to preserve stories, promote creativity and celebrate novelty. All of this and more can be found in the pages of science fiction fan magazines - colloquially known as fanzines – since the 1930s. Join Dr Leigh Edmonds and Perry Middlemiss as they lead us through the history of the fanzine, sharing their knowledge and their adventures within the Australian fanzine community. There will also be an opportunity to see some of the rare examples from Monash Library’s science fiction and fanzine collection.
