Discover late Victorian Melbourne during an intimate tour of Mannix Library’s special collections. See rare pastoral run and railroad maps contained in gazettes and bindings, bound landscapes, theatre and opera playbills as well as a collection of pamphlets relating to the career of flamboyant Australian politician and judge, James Joseph Casey, whose work spanned issues of public health, agriculture, gold and gem mining, horse – drawn tramways, land settlement, and even a patent for a new type of gunpowder. The presenters will guide two sessions of this tour of rare items and explain their provenance and conservation.
