Speaker: Dr. Anna Welch
Historically, women’s voices have been overlooked and ignored by collecting institutions. State Library Victoria’s Women Writers Fund, established in 2021, seeks to redress this imbalance and bring women’s words to wider audiences. With the support of donors Krystyna Campbell-Pretty AM and Helen Sykes, almost 150 rare titles by women authors have been added to the collection, including first editions by Jane Austen, Virginia Woolf, Ursula Le Guin, Toni Morrison, and many more. The lecture explores some highlights from this exciting collecting initiative.
